2025-07-24treewide: Remove empty board_init() function from all boardsSam Protsenko
Commit 86acdce2ba88 ("common: add config for board_init() call") introduced CONFIG_BOARD_INIT option. This option can be disabled for the boards where board_init() function is not needed. Remove empty board_init() calls for all boards where it's possible, and disable CONFIG_BOARD_INIT in all related defconfigs. This cleanup was made semi-automatically using these scripts: [1]. No functional change, but the binary size for the modified boards is reduced a bit. 2025-04-05arm: mach-k3: j721e: Split out J7200 SoC support from J721eAndrew Davis
Currently in j721e_init.c we check which firewalls to remove using the board configuration (e.g CONFIG_TARGET_J721E_R5_EVM). We do this as J721e and J7200 have different IP and firewalls but use the same SoC definition (SOC_K3_J721E) even though they are different SoCs. The idea was they would be similar enough that they both could use the same SoC config to help with common code sharing. Board checks would then be used differentiate. This has grown far too messy to maintain any more, especially now that there is more than one board using J721e (EVM, SK, Beagle AI64). As differentiation is done based on board, every one of these boards would have to have checks added for them. Instead let's split J7200 support out from J721e like how normal new SoC support is done. This patch touches several subsystems and could not be split much better as when we add SOC_K3_J7200 we want to make use of it in all spots that once used the combined SOC_K3_J721E so we can turn off SOC_K3_J721E when building for J7200 boards. This patch series introduces remoteproc M4 driver which will be used to load firmware into and start the M4 remote core. This series also adds support for R5F cores on am64x SoCs in patch 2 and sets up environment to load FW in remote cores in patch 3,4,5. This patch series also enables remoteproc drivers by default as per what remoteproc sybsystem is supported per SoC, thus all remoteproc options are now deleted in configs/* since they are no longer required. This patch series was tested on am64x EVM, am62x SK, am62ax SK, am62px SK boards. Any additional tested by's are welcome since I was not able to test any additional boards. At present, in u-boot, the parent device (fss) gets registered as a syscon device. This is done because the MMIO mux driver in u-boot did not support the mux functionality when the parent device is not a syscon. In this series, we make relevant changes in the hbmc driver as well as dts' so that we can use the reg-mux driver for selecting the appropriate state of the mux. Make the raw-mode options depend on SPL_SYS_MMCSD_RAW_MODE in a more direct way. This makes it easier to understand the options with 'make menuconfig'. There are three different ways of specifying the offset: - sector offset - partition number - partition type So make these a choice, so it is more obvious what is going on. 2023-11-22configs: j7200: Remove HBMC_AM654 configNishanth Menon
Kernel commit 1b77265626a4 ("arm64: dts: ti: k3-j7200-mcu-wakeup: Add HyperBus node") was merged to kernel without its dependent patch [1]. Similar fix is needed in U-Boot, and hbmc currently breaks boot. Till this gets fixed in U-Boot, disable the config by default so that the hbmc probe that happens in board/ti/j721e/evm.c will not take place and lead to boot failure. This is similar to the approach in commit 5b2671594b80 ("configs: j721e: Remove HBMC_AM654 config"), introduced to j7200 evm platform. All K3 boards now are secure by default, instead of setting this in each defconfig, make it implied by the ARCH config. The only exception is IOT2050, which I do not believe will have any problems with being a TI_SECURE_DEVICE, but for now turn it off to keep its config the same. K3 devices have runtime type board detection. Make the default defconfig include the secure configuration. Then remove the HS specific config. Non-HS devices will continue to boot due to runtime device type detection. If TI_SECURE_DEV_PKG is not set the build will emit warnings, for non-HS devices these can be ignored. - Make all users of CUSTOM_SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR reference SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR - Introduce HAS_CUSTOM_SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR to allow for setting the stack pointer directly, otherwise we use the common calculation. - On some platforms that were using the standard calculation but did not set CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_SIZE / CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_ADDR, set them. - On a small number of platforms that were not subtracting GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE do so now via the standard calculation. - CONFIG_SYS_INIT_SP_OFFSET is now widely unused, so remove it from most board config header files. 2021-09-10configs: j72*_evm: Define the buffer sizes for dfuAswath Govindraju
On J721e R5 SPL, dfu buffer for loading sysfw.itb image gets allocated before DRAM gets initialized. So, the buffer gets allocated in MCU L3 RAM. The current buffer size to be allocated is 256KB and the available total heap memory is 0x70000 (448KB). This leads to NOMEM errors during allocation. In other cases when constraints such as above are not present fix the size of buffers to the sector size in OSPI for proper functioning. Also, if CONFIG_SYS_DFU_DATA_BUF_SIZE is defined and CONFIG_SYS_DFU_MAX_FILE_SIZE is not defined then the max file size for dfu transfer is defined as CONFIG_SYS_DFU_DATA_BUF_SIZE. Fix these by setting appropriate buffer sizes in their respective defconfig files and defining the max file size as 8 MB which is the default dfu buffer size.
