The dwc3 controller present on Apple Silicon SoCs like the M1 requires
a specific order of operations synchronized between its PHY and its
Type-C controller. Specifically, the PHY first has to go through initial
bringup (which requires knowledge of the lane mode and orientation)
before dwc3 itself can be brought up and can then finalize the PHY
configuration.
Additionally, dwc3 has to be teared down and re-initialized whenever
the cable is changed due to hardware quirks that prevent a new device
from being recognized and due to the PHY being unable to switch lane
mode or orientation while dwc3 is up and running.
These controllers also have a Apple-specific MMIO region after the
common dwc3 region where some controls have to be updated. PHY bringup
and shutdown also requires SUSPHY to be enabled for the ports to work
correctly.
In the future, this driver will also gain support for USB3-via-USB4
tunneling which will require additional tweaks.
Add a glue driver that takes of all of these constraints.

Introduce new tracepoints to the USB core to improve debuggability of
USB device lifecycle events.
The following tracepoints are added:
- usb_alloc_dev: Triggered when a new USB device structure is allocated,
providing insights into early device setup.
- usb_set_device_state: Triggered when the USB device state changes,
allowing observation of the device's state transitions.
These tracepoints capture detailed information about the USB device,
including its name, speed, state, bus current value, and authorized
flag. This will aid developers in diagnosing issues related to device
enumeration within the USB subsystem.
Examples:
usb_alloc_dev: usb 1-1 speed UNKNOWN state attached 0mA [authorized]

When there is no port entry in the tcpci entry itself, the driver will
trigger an error message "OF: graph: no port node found in /...../typec" .
It is documented that the dts node should contain an connector entry
with ports and several port pointing to devices with usb-role-switch
property set. Only when those connector entry is missing, it should
check for port entries in the main node.
We switch the search order for looking after ports, which will avoid the

There are GPIO controllers such as the one present in the LX2160ARDB
QIXIS FPGA which have fixed-direction input and output GPIO lines mixed
together in a single register. This cannot be modeled using the
gpio-regmap as-is since there is no way to present the true direction of
a GPIO line.
In order to make this use case possible, add a new configuration
parameter - fixed_direction_output - into the gpio_regmap_config
structure. This will enable user drivers to provide a bitmap that
represents the fixed direction of the GPIO lines.

Replace deprecated simple_strtol() calls with kstrtoint() in
timeout_store() and firmware_loading_store() functions to
improve input validation and error handling. The simple_strtol()
function does not provide proper error checking for invalid input,
while kstrtoint() returns an error for malformed strings.
This change adds proper validation for user input from sysfs attributes,
returning -EINVAL for invalid numeric strings instead of silently accepting
potentially malformed input. The behavior for valid numeric input remains
unchanged.
The simple_strtol() function is deprecated in favor of kstrtoint() family
functions which provide better error handling and are recommended for new
code and replacements.

Fix incorrect use of PTR_ERR_OR_ZERO() in topology_parse_cpu_capacity()
which causes the code to proceed with NULL clock pointers. The current
logic uses !PTR_ERR_OR_ZERO(cpu_clk) which evaluates to true for both
valid pointers and NULL, leading to potential NULL pointer dereference
in clk_get_rate().
Per include/linux/err.h documentation, PTR_ERR_OR_ZERO(ptr) returns:
"The error code within @ptr if it is an error pointer; 0 otherwise."
This means PTR_ERR_OR_ZERO() returns 0 for both valid pointers AND NULL
pointers. Therefore !PTR_ERR_OR_ZERO(cpu_clk) evaluates to true (proceed)
when cpu_clk is either valid or NULL, causing clk_get_rate(NULL) to be
called when of_clk_get() returns NULL.
Replace with !IS_ERR_OR_NULL(cpu_clk) which only proceeds for valid
pointers, preventing potential NULL pointer dereference in clk_get_rate().

The early error path in hdm_probe() can jump to err_free_mdev before
&mdev->dev has been initialized with device_initialize(). Calling
put_device(&mdev->dev) there triggers a device core WARN and ends up
invoking kref_put(&kobj->kref, kobject_release) on an uninitialized
kobject.
In this path the private struct was only kmalloc'ed and the intended
release is effectively kfree(mdev) anyway, so free it directly instead
of calling put_device() on an uninitialized device.
This removes the WARNING and fixes the pre-initialization error path.

hdm_disconnect() calls most_deregister_interface(), which eventually
unregisters the MOST interface device with device_unregister(iface->dev).
If that drops the last reference, the device core may call release_mdev()
immediately while hdm_disconnect() is still executing.
The old code also freed several mdev-owned allocations in
hdm_disconnect() and then performed additional put_device() calls.
Depending on refcount order, this could lead to use-after-free or
double-free when release_mdev() ran (or when unregister paths also
performed puts).
Fix by moving the frees of mdev-owned allocations into release_mdev(),
so they happen exactly once when the device is truly released, and by
dropping the extra put_device() calls in hdm_disconnect() that are
redundant after device_unregister() and most_deregister_interface().
This addresses the KASAN slab-use-after-free reported by syzbot in
hdm_disconnect(). See report and stack traces in the bug link below.

There are no scenarios where a weak increment is invalid on binder_node.
The only possible case where it could be invalid is if the kernel
delivers BR_DECREFS to the process that owns the node, and then
increments the weak refcount again, effectively "reviving" a dead node.
However, that is not possible: when the BR_DECREFS command is delivered,
the kernel removes and frees the binder_node. The fact that you were
able to call binder_inc_node_nilocked() implies that the node is not yet
destroyed, which implies that BR_DECREFS has not been delivered to
userspace, so incrementing the weak refcount is valid.
Note that it's currently possible to trigger this condition if the owner
calls BINDER_THREAD_EXIT while node->has_weak_ref is true. This causes
BC_INCREFS on binder_ref instances to fail when they should not.

The comedi_buf_munge() function performs a modulo operation
`async->munge_chan %= async->cmd.chanlist_len` without first
checking if chanlist_len is zero. If a user program submits a command with
chanlist_len set to zero, this causes a divide-by-zero error when the device
processes data in the interrupt handler path.
Add a check for zero chanlist_len at the beginning of the
function, similar to the existing checks for !map and
CMDF_RAWDATA flag. When chanlist_len is zero, update
munge_count and return early, indicating the data was
handled without munging.

- RMI registers addresses in AMD new platforms are 2 bytes,
on previous processors the address size is 1 byte.
- Implement logic to identify register address size at runtime.
- The identification is done in first transaction using the
Revision register.
- The revision register can be read using 1 byte in both, older and
newer platforms.
- However, sending 1 byte on later platform can cause unrecoverable error.

The API for apm_get_power_status is "call it if it isn't NULL",
except it's also initialised with a no-op __apm_get_power_status.
This was added alongside apm_get_power_status in 2007.
The apm_get_power_status symbol is used in these files:
arch/arm/mach-pxa/sharpsl_pm.c:extern void (*apm_get_power_status)(struct apm_power_info *);
arch/arm/mach-pxa/sharpsl_pm.c: apm_get_power_status = sharpsl_apm_get_power_status;
arch/sh/boards/mach-hp6xx/hp6xx_apm.c: apm_get_power_status = hp6x0_apm_get_power_status;
drivers/char/apm-emulation.c:void (*apm_get_power_status)(struct apm_power_info *) = __apm_get_power_status;
drivers/char/apm-emulation.c:EXPORT_SYMBOL(apm_get_power_status);
drivers/char/apm-emulation.c: if (apm_get_power_status)
drivers/char/apm-emulation.c: apm_get_power_status(&info);
drivers/macintosh/apm_emu.c: apm_get_power_status = pmu_apm_get_power_status;
drivers/macintosh/apm_emu.c: if (apm_get_power_status == pmu_apm_get_power_status)
drivers/macintosh/apm_emu.c: apm_get_power_status = NULL;
drivers/power/supply/apm_power.c: apm_get_power_status = apm_battery_apm_get_power_status;
drivers/power/supply/apm_power.c: apm_get_power_status = NULL;
include/linux/apm-emulation.h:extern void (*apm_get_power_status)(struct apm_power_info *);
All of them are compatible with the API (post-remove UAFs notwithstanding)
and don't even read it except to compare with their own values;
on a cursory glance this doesn't seem to have ever not been the case.

`kernel::ffi::CStr` was introduced in commit d126d2380131 ("rust: str:
add `CStr` type") in November 2022 as an upstreaming of earlier work
that was done in May 2021[0]. That earlier work, having predated the
inclusion of `CStr` in `core`, largely duplicated the implementation of
`std::ffi::CStr`.
`std::ffi::CStr` was moved to `core::ffi::CStr` in Rust 1.64 in
September 2022. Hence replace `kernel::str::CStr` with `core::ffi::CStr`
to reduce our custom code footprint, and retain needed custom
functionality through an extension trait.
Add `CStr` to `ffi` and the kernel prelude.
